Application Process

For applicants who have graduated from Dietitians of Canada accredited undergraduate and internship/practical training programs within the past 3 years.

Step 1: Download application form

Download the application form and the appropriate checklist which will help you to determine the documents required with your application.

Step 2: Submit application form

Submit the completed application form along with all documents required to demonstrate how you have met the registration requirements (see checklist). Processing your application can take between 10-14 days.

Step 3: Fees

Pay the application fees according to the instructions on the application form.

Step 4: Write the Canadian Dietetic Registration Examination (CDRE)

The CDRE is written twice each year, in May or November. Once an applicant is deemed eligible to write the CDRE, they are also eligible for a Temporary Certificate of Registration.

For applicants whose undergraduate degree or practical training was not accredited by Dietitians of Canada or who have completed their practical training more than 3 years ago.

Step 2: Submit application form

Submit the completed application form along with all documents required to demonstrate how you have met the registration requirements (see checklist). Depending on the scheduling of the next Registration Committee meeting, processing your application can take up to 4-12 weeks from the time your complete application is received at the College. To minimize delays, the College will inform applicant about the submissions deadline associated with each meeting.

Step 3: Fees

Pay the application fees according to the instructions on the application form.

Step 4: Assessment of registration requirements

If the College assesses your application and determines that you do not fully meet one or more of the registration requirements, you will receive directions about filling the gaps before you application can proceed further. Timelines for this step depend on applicant's ability to access and complete required courses and practical training.
