Quality Assurance Program

Professional Development

Section 80.1 of the Regulated Health Professions Act states: "a quality assurance program prescribed under section 80 shall include,
  1. continuing education or professional development designed to,
    1. promote continuing competence and continuing quality improvement among the members,
    2. address changes in practice environments, and
    3. incorporate standards of practice, advances in technology, changes made to entry to practice competencies and other relevant issues in the discretion of the Council;
  2. self, peer and practice assessments; and
  3. a mechanism for the College to monitor members' participation in, and compliance with, the quality assurance program."
The College of Dietitians of Ontario has mandatory continuing education programs for Registered Dietitians to gain competence in jurisprudence and to set self-directed professional development goals.
